This issue could be an easy fix, in Apple's style: just disable e-cores and run p-cores only, when gaming using DRM. Either Intel asks Mobo manufacturers to have switch in BIOS, or MS will implement compatibility mode, like already done before, to lock hypervisor in p-cores only. Remember, how apple offered solution, in form of patch, to overheating MacBook air due shitty design? Right, by disabling half of core2duo! :-))))

If the companies would have been fair with their customers, piracy wouldn't have had existed. ;)

2 more windows updates and nobody will need any of those copyright software, becouse entire OS AND THE CPU will block you from piracy.. 10 years from now, and you will only be able to use what they say you can use. Crowd control will be much greater in general. To be honest, instead of crushing and coding - recoding blocking everything to keep pirates away.... They should just really make a monthly membership of 65euros in wich you would be able to use ANY software.. But no. That wont be good enough profit. And nobody to jail or fine becouse of piracy. This whole thing is getting redicolous, and the solution is right in front of them. Your internet provider would unlock all software for you. So when you pay internet you pay all the software with it... problem solved.

denuvo bound things by the information returned by cpuid... so it the switch happened and it was verifying against the cpuid info, it'd fail.. and its spotchecks would kick in, securom did the same

Games cant launch on Ryzen? Thats because Windows and Intel are always in cahoots! While I understand about early adoption problems, but for God's sake, Arm already have the Is kind of architecture years back. Its not new tech. If Intel's 12 gen is not ready or that MS's win11 is also not ready, dont force others to use! Its a joke to see Apple's launch of their M1 with little to no issue whereas Intel and MS's hastily launched products to compete are problematic.

A quick temporary very dirty work around is to disable the "e" cores in the bios. Yes you'll lose some treads but at least you can play. I know it sucks.

The solution is for DRM to be removed. DRM has never - ever - been effective. It's failure has been so total and so public that it has forced the industries leveraging DRM to backpedal with the claim that they only need it to work for the launch. A delay, they say, is the goal so that the pirate copies don't come out until after the game launches. By their own logic, a month after a game launches, the companies should be stripping DRM from their product willingly claiming: "Mission accomplished!" Of course, that's not what we see. Instead, paying customers are forced to - constantly - fight DRM any and every time they would like to (re)play their game(s). This gets worse over time as tertiary (to the DRM) tech advances while the underlying DRM tech (or specific version) does not. This is not an Intel Problem. This isn't even a Windows Problem. Neither Intel (chip manufacturer) nor Windows (OS Manufacturer) should be forced to build their systems around Denuvo or any othr DRM Provider. That is axiomatically absurd.

DRM is so great. I love how it punishes only the people who pay for the game. Pirates won't buy the game whether it gets cracked on day 1 or day 50, they'll wait for it. I'm not having any Denuvo issues personally but that's because I pirate any game that uses DRM.

DRM is just a very shitty attempt at a solution to a problem that cant be fixed. It does nothing of what it promises to do and everything of what it promises NOT to do. Plus costing performance and fucking endusers over. Ohwell, this is why I stopped investing into new systems even if I am excited about them. Good on AMD though, since they will come out with Big-Little on Zen4 as well as far as I have heard, Intel is basicly getting the errors outta the way for them.

So it only affects a handful of games, most of which have been, or are getting patched, and can be fixed with a BIOS setting change. Also, this is not Intel's fault. 12th gen wasn't some secret they sprung on the world. This is an issue with software not properly supporting new hardware. That's not a new thing.

That's not Intel problem. It is the mediocrity of the programmers who write third party software. They all set thread priority the the highest possible, this is why some programs freeze the operating system. Cpp 11, an up try to standardize that, but you can never understinat the mediocrity of a thier party program, they will go out of thier way to get the thread natice handle and jackpot the priority to critical.

Denovo and DRM in general is just awful. It causes no end of issues, including reduced performance, to the point where pirated games perform better. This particular issue, however, is a perfect storm of new technology, MS's move to douchebag policies, and brand new hardware. I didn't understand why do many people were moving to console, but with ridiculous hardware prices, Microsoft's disgusting attitude, and intentional obsolescence of old, decent hardware, I'm close to checking out completely. If Linux could just be a bit better with gaming and drivers, I'd switch.

As much as I don't like Intel, Denuvo doesn't need help from anybody to ruin legitimate user's day. I mean, this kind of thing happens all the time with that software, this is not an isolated incident created solely by Intel's incompetence. Heck, a few weeks ago wasn't a game unplayable for the whole weekend because they forgot to plug their servers or whatever that was?

Issues like this is why I never shop brand new, I usually wait 6 months to a year, just so that the opening bugs has had enough time to be fixed. And currently it make's me very happy that I vent Ryzen 7 3700x a while back just before we where hit by the shortages. Still I do have some weirdness with a linux build on a year earlier ryzen 7 2600 and an earlier mainboard chipset, but I don't know it it's a problem with the build or the hardware yet. It seems to be connected to the GPU for some reason and I'm lokking into it. The dumb system just won't wake from going to sleep and only a cold reboot will fix it temporarily. But then after a while the error comes back and I'm just where I started. Frankly though I'm sort of thinking about jumping that system up to similar specs that I'm currently running this computer on, if I can find the parts. Or maybe that system would work better with a 12th gen intel once they get all the bugs figured out, but by then the next gen ryzen will be out.... and I can't wait.

Bios upgrade being risky is totally bogus. I have to do firmware upgrade in all of my products and this function has to be completely bullet proof. I don’t have any issues with my glorious Intel-7 4790K, I can even run some games in 4K. My CPU rarely goes above 75%. I’m also running 16GB Memory at 1333 MHz and nothing is overclocked. I run a GTX 980 video card and will only upgrade when I start to see gameplay degradation. That 4790K is still quite capable despite being bought many years ago, it’s a real workhorse. The GPU is the bottleneck not the CPU. To get any meaningful fps increases would require I get a new high-end 3000 series GPU. I’ll wait and see what happens, if I decide to go with a new GPU it will have to come with a Ryzen 7 on a Z570 MB, 32 GB of dual channel 4000 MHz memory , no fancy Adonis. No water cooling of any kind.

I was just thinking about going for a RTX 3070Ti with an i5-12600k, as the 12600K has more cores and more GHz than the R7 5800X, which i was going for originally, because it was cheaper on PCPartPicker's merchants, allowing me to fit a Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus in my budget (overkill speed go brrrrrrr), and because it had seemingly better performance, but now I'm forced into sticking to Ryzen, since it can currently actually run stuff half the stuff on Windows 10/10 but with more curves (AKA: 11). So its either: A. Stuff won't work sometimes but at least a good chunk of stuff works B. A tiny metal slab that can't run anything due to DRM garbage
